Dixotomia Skill Trees: 26 Abilities Across Two Paths

5 MIN READDEEP MATRIX

Dixotomia has 26 abilities across two skill trees. The Vampire tree holds the supernatural powers, and the Technology tree holds your guns, armour and gadgets. You buy points with blood ampoules, each tree has three tiers, and the trees are incompatible, so you cannot unlock everything.

This guide lists the abilities by name and describes them in general terms. It quotes no damage numbers or point thresholds, and it is spoiler-free.

What are the two skill trees?

The two paths match the game's central question: will you remain human or embrace the dark side?

  • The Vampire tree has 14 abilities and draws on the infection in the left arm of Reynor "Ron" Adams.
  • The Technology tree has 12 abilities and draws on your suit, your weapons and your gadgets.

Together that makes 26. You can mix the two, but they are incompatible, so you will feel the trade-off every time you spend a point.

What is in the Vampire tree?

The 14 abilities are:

  1. Mark
  2. Pain Orb
  3. Hypnosis
  4. Blood Subjugation
  5. Blood Needle
  6. Dark Camouflage
  7. Vampiric Rage
  8. Leech
  9. Terrifying Presence
  10. Light Orb
  11. Telekinetic Beam
  12. Accelerated Regeneration
  13. Phantom
  14. Barricade

In general terms, the tree leans toward powers that hurt or bend enemies, powers that hide or protect you, and powers that keep you alive. The names hint at the flavour, but this guide does not guess at the details. Those are best learned in play.

Vampiric Rage is the signature ability. It switches off your shield and technology in exchange for lower damage taken, stronger vampiric damage and sight through walls. Vampiric Rage explained covers it in full.

What is in the Technology tree?

The 12 abilities are named after the kit you carry:

  • Firearms: Pistol, Rifle, Assault Rifle, SMG, Machine Gun and Shotgun
  • Heavy and explosive options: Plasma Cannon and Grenade
  • The experimental weapon: Spark
  • Defence and gadgets: Armour, Visor and Sensor

The Spark is a weapon, not a power, and it sits in this tree. It runs on your suit's own energy and comes with a risky catch, which is covered in the Spark explained.

How do blood ampoules buy skill points?

Skill points are bought with blood ampoules, and the source of the blood decides what each ampoule is worth:

Source Points
Outcast blood 1
Human blood 2
Children of Karna 3

What the three sources mean in the story is part of the game, and this guide leaves it for you to find.

How do the three tiers work?

Each tree has three tiers. Higher tiers open as you spend points in that tree, so going deep in one tree is how you reach its strongest abilities.

That is the first thing to keep in mind when you plan a build: where your points go decides which tiers you can reach.

Why can't you unlock everything?

The point budget is large enough to go all the way down one tree and a good distance into the other, but not to finish both. On top of that, the two styles conflict, because Vampiric Rage turns off your technology.

That is deliberate. The game asks whether you will remain human or embrace the dark side, and a build that had everything would answer neither. Your build is a statement about who Ron becomes.

How do the two trees compare?

Vampire tree Technology tree
Abilities 14 12
Source The infection Your suit and weapons
Examples Mark, Pain Orb, Hypnosis, Blood Needle, Dark Camouflage Pistol, Rifle, Armour, Plasma Cannon, Visor
Signature Vampiric Rage Spark

What could a build look like?

Here are three broad shapes, described only by where the points go:

  • The soldier. Almost everything goes into the Technology tree, with perhaps a few Vampire abilities that suit your style. You keep your shield and your guns working, and you give up the deeper powers.
  • The infected. Almost everything goes into the Vampire tree, with a light touch of technology. You reach the strongest powers, and Vampiric Rage becomes a natural part of the build.
  • The hybrid. You split your points between the trees. You get variety, but you do not finish either one.

This guide does not rank them. Each one says something different about Ron, and each one changes how combat is likely to feel.

How should you plan your spending?

Use these habits as a starting point:

  1. Choose a main tree early. Spend most of your points there, so you reach its higher tiers.
  2. Treat the second tree as a supplement. Pick a few abilities that suit your style instead of spreading evenly.
  3. Know what Vampiric Rage costs. It switches off your technology, so think about which technology you rely on before you take it.
  4. Do not chase every ability. The limit is part of the design, and the choices it forces are the fun of it.

What do players ask about the trees?

Do you have to pick one tree?

No. You can mix them, but because they are incompatible, you cannot have everything from both.

Are the trees the same size?

No. The Vampire tree has 14 abilities and the Technology tree has 12.

Is the Technology tree only weapons?

No. Armour, Visor and Sensor are gear. The rest are weapon types and the Spark, an experimental weapon.

What should you remember?

Two trees, 26 abilities, three tiers, and blood ampoules as the currency. You will not get everything, and you are not meant to.

If you want to feel the combat before you plan a build, the free demo is on Steam and itch.io. The full game is on the Steam page and on the Meta Quest store.
