Dixotomia Characters: Who's Who on Karna
Dixotomia's main cast has eight key characters: Reynor Adams, the hero you play, plus Edward Price, Alister Duncan, Viviana Eidenhart, Otto Stern, Aurora Devaldo, Esmeralda Ortega and Johnny Flaherty. This guide introduces each of them in a few lines and points to deeper profiles.
It is spoiler-free. It describes who each character is before the story starts, not what happens to them.
Who are the main characters in Dixotomia?
| Character | Role | In one line |
|---|---|---|
| Reynor "Ron" Adams | The player | Ex-assault infantry with eight years of service |
| Edward Price | Deputy head of Tibet security | A convicted deserter, warm and fatherly with Reynor |
| Alister Duncan | A boss | Raised on Samaris, convinced augments beat flesh |
| Viviana Eidenhart | Chair of the board of Tibet Innovations | The Oxygen Queen of the Federation |
| Otto Stern | Company scientist | Refused a medical licence by Attecor |
| Aurora Devaldo | Previous federal inspector | A file that is almost empty |
| Esmeralda Ortega | Senior medic | Allegiance left deliberately ambiguous |
| Johnny Flaherty | Captain-Inspector | Reynor's sarcastic academy friend |
Who is Reynor Adams?
Reynor "Ron" Adams is the hero. He was born on Mars, served eight years in the assault infantry and is short, stocky and very broad. He is trained to control his heart rate, blood pressure and hormone release. The store page calls him a SpecOps contractor, and his story background is military.
His nickname is the lore's best small joke. A clerk filling out a requisition muttered "Adams... Ronnie... Ron... done", and Reynor decided it was not worth correcting. The full profile is in Reynor Adams: who you play in Dixotomia.
Who is Edward Price?
Edward Price is a Lieutenant-Colonel and the deputy head of Tibet security. He is ex-Fedarm and a convicted deserter, exiled for life, and his implants were cut out as part of the sentence. He is warm and fatherly with Reynor, expects submission, and is extremely harsh with anyone who crosses him.
Price is one of the named bosses on the game's site. The profile Who is Edward Price in Dixotomia? covers his background without spoilers.
Who is Alister Duncan?
Duncan grew up on Samaris, a poor red world, as the son of a Neo-Christian pastor. At sixteen an animal bite infected his right eye, and Tibet recruiters saved him and took him and his father away as payment. His implant eye saw better than his real one, which became his belief: augmented parts work better than natural ones.
Who is Viviana Eidenhart?
Viviana Eidenhart is the chair of the board of Tibet Innovations and the actual sovereign of Karna. She inherited the colony at 24, built a kilometre-high tower above the mud storms and is known as the Oxygen Queen of the Federation.
The lore sums her up in one line: she is not cruel toward people, and the question is who she considers people.
Who is Otto Stern?
Otto Stern is the company scientist. He graduated from medical school, but Attecor refused him a licence, so he drifted from underground practice into radiophysics and cosmogeology. He picked Karna for its geophysics and its lack of medical oversight. He wears old-fashioned filtered glasses over ruined retinas.
Who is Aurora Devaldo?
Aurora Devaldo is the previous federal inspector on Karna. Her dossier is suspiciously thin: a photo, a name, a position and some dates. She was once a cadet of the Parapsychology faculty known as the Psychofac, and the name comes up early in the story.
Who is Esmeralda Ortega?
Esmeralda Ortega is a senior medic based at Tibet HQ. The lore deliberately leaves her allegiance ambiguous, so treat her as someone whose loyalties you have to work out for yourself.
Who is Johnny Flaherty?
Johnny Flaherty is a Captain-Inspector with the Federation Inspectorate and Reynor's friend from the academy. They had not seen each other for ten years, or fifteen if you count the cryo. He is sarcastic, profane and funny, and he has thick dark hair and a scar from mid-forehead to right cheekbone.
Why do some names look different on the game's site?
Two of the bosses are labelled differently on the game's site than in the lore. This guide uses the lore spellings, and the table shows how they match:
| On the site | In the lore |
|---|---|
| Dunkan | Alister Duncan |
| Vivien | Viviana Eidenhart |
| Ron | Reynor "Ron" Adams |
If you searched for one of the site spellings, you are in the right place. They are the same people.
Which characters work for Tibet Innovations?
The cast splits roughly into two camps, with one exception:
- Tibet Innovations. Price (deputy head of security), Viviana Eidenhart (chair of the board), Stern (company scientist) and Duncan, whom Tibet recruiters took in at sixteen.
- The Federation. Johnny Flaherty and Aurora Devaldo, both federal inspectors, and Reynor, who served in Fedarm.
- Unclear. Esmeralda Ortega, whose allegiance the lore keeps ambiguous.
How do the characters connect?
Several relationships are worth knowing before you start:
- Reynor and Johnny. Friends from the academy in Adelaide.
- Reynor and Price. Price is warm and fatherly with Reynor, and Reynor carries the same set of implants that were cut out of Price.
- Reynor and Aurora. He finds her face familiar but cannot place it at first.
- Duncan and Viviana. His ambition impressed her.
- Viviana and the Tallums. The Tallums, Tibet's co-founders, are the Eidenharts' hereditary enemies.
