Dixotomia Bosses: Who You Face on Karna
Dixotomia's named bosses are Alister Duncan, Edward Price, Viviana Eidenhart and a dragon. They are characters from the story, and as it unfolds they gradually turn against you. This guide introduces them at dossier level, with no fights, outcomes or late-story events.
Who are the named bosses?
A note on names: the official site lists the bosses as Dunkan, Price, Vivien and a dragon. The lore uses Alister Duncan, Edward Price and Viviana Eidenhart, and this guide uses those full names.
| Boss | Dossier-level role |
|---|---|
| Alister Duncan | An augmented Tibet recruit who believes machine parts beat flesh |
| Edward Price | Lieutenant-Colonel and Deputy Head of Tibet security, a former Federation soldier |
| Viviana Eidenhart | Chair of the Board of Tibet Innovations and the real ruler of Karna |
| A dragon | Listed on the official site, with nothing more said here |
Three of the four have ties to Tibet Innovations, the corporation that owns Karna end to end, including its mine, its refinery, its research lab and a private army. That gives the bosses a rough ladder: Eidenhart at the top as Chair of the Board, Price running security, and Duncan someone the company recruited as a teenager and shaped. The lore adds that Duncan's ambition impressed Eidenhart and alarmed Price, which tells you the three have history with each other before you ever arrive.
Why do bosses turn against you?
The core idea is simple. As the story unfolds, bosses gradually turn against you. They are part of the story you are living through, not obstacles added on top of it.
This guide does not say who turns, when or why. That is part of what the game is built to show you.
Who is Alister Duncan?
Duncan was born on Samaris, a poor "red" world, the son of a Neo-Christian pastor. After an animal bite infected his right eye at 16, Tibet recruiters saved him and took him and his father away as payment.
The eye implant sees better than his real eye ever did, and that becomes his whole life: augmented parts work better than natural ones. It is a belief that mirrors the game's own question about technology and the body. For more, read who Alister Duncan is.
Who is Edward Price?
Price is a Lieutenant-Colonel and the Deputy Head of Tibet security. He is a former Federation soldier, one of the Fedarm, and he is warm and fatherly with Reynor "Ron" Adams, the hero, and expects submission in return. He is extremely harsh with anyone who crosses him.
His rank puts him at the centre of the corporation's security forces. The longer profile is in who Edward Price is.
Who is Viviana Eidenhart?
Eidenhart is the Chair of the Board of Tibet Innovations and the actual sovereign of Karna, known as the Oxygen Queen of the Federation. She inherited Karna at 24 because no one else in her family wanted a loss-making colony on the edge, and she read the dinerite reports her predecessor never opened. She has never left the Beta Virgo system.
She built a kilometre-high tower so that her rooms sit above the mud storms. That tower, the Tower, is one of the game's named locations.
The lore describes her as not cruel toward people. The question it raises is who she considers people, which echoes a theme the game returns to often.
Where do the bosses come from?
Their backgrounds are as different as their jobs:
| Boss | Background |
|---|---|
| Alister Duncan | Born on Samaris, a poor "red" world, the son of a Neo-Christian pastor |
| Edward Price | A former soldier of the Federation's armed forces |
| Viviana Eidenhart | A member of the Eidenhart dynasty, a corporate aristocracy |
| A dragon | Not stated |
Those three origins give the cast a spread: a recruit from below, an officer from the state and an heir from the top. It is a small picture of how the Federation, and Karna inside it, is stacked.
What about the dragon?
The official site lists a dragon among the bosses. That is all this guide says about it, because anything more would give away more than a spoiler-free page should.
What makes bosses work in a story-driven shooter?
In a game built on story, the best boss encounters are the ones you have been told about. You hear a name, you learn what the person wants, and by the time you meet them, the fight is about more than a health bar.
Dixotomia leans on that idea. The bosses are named, they have positions in a corporation that owns a planet, and they have histories you can read about in the lore. That is why this guide treats them as characters first.
How should you prepare for the bosses?
You do not need a strategy guide to be ready. These habits are enough:
- Settle on a main style. Technology and vampiric abilities are both valid, but the trees are incompatible, so commit to a direction.
- Learn the regular enemies first. The same habits carry over from Dixotomia's enemy types to the tougher encounters.
- Keep your comfort in mind. Adjustable Difficulty is listed on the Steam page, so use it if a fight is too much.
- Stay spoiler-free. The surprise of who turns, and when, is part of the experience.
What does this mean for you?
The bosses are an introduction to the world as much as a challenge. Duncan stands for a belief in augmentation, Price for the company's chain of command, and Eidenhart for ownership of the planet itself. Together they sketch Karna from the top down.
If you want to meet them for yourself, Dixotomia is a single-player sci-fi horror shooter from Deep Matrix. The free demo is on Steam and itch.io, and the full game is on the Steam page and the Meta Quest store.
