Tibet Innovations: The Corporation That Owns Karna

5 MIN READDEEP MATRIX

Tibet Innovations is the corporation that owns Karna, the planet where Dixotomia takes place. It owns the mine, the refinery, the research lab and a private army that it calls a security service, whose troopers wear black and orange. It also smuggles "volunteer colonists" from the poorest worlds as contraband labour, a practice that says a lot about how the company sees people.

Tibet Innovations is a fictional corporation. This guide sticks to the lore's faction notes and adds no plot reveals.

What does Tibet Innovations own?

Karna is a company town the size of a planet, and Tibet owns almost every part of it:

  • The mine. Where the ore comes out of the ground.
  • The refinery. Where dinerite is processed.
  • The research lab. Tibet's own laboratory.
  • A private army. The security service, in black and orange.
  • The planet itself. The lore treats Karna as a quasi-fief, a holding under the corporation's rule.

The company's fortune rests on dinerite, which it mines and refines into a compound with the trade name decarbox. Tibet Innovations holds all rights to the name.

What is the security service?

Tibet fields a private army and calls it a security service. Its troopers wear black and orange. In the lore, they appear in the enemy lists for the headquarters alongside turrets and auto-mines, which gives you a sense of how the company protects what it owns.

For the full spread of who you fight on Karna, from troopers to vampires, the lore's lists run area by area. Tibet's own forces are only one part of it.

How does Tibet make its money?

From dinerite. The company mines the ore and refines it into decarbox, a compound that binds carbon out of carbon dioxide and methane at low temperature. That is what makes terraforming possible, and it is the reason a loss-making colony on the edge of the Federation became worth owning.

Everything else Tibet does, from its security service to its research, rests on that one mineral.

What does the black and orange mean?

It is the identity of Tibet's security service. The troopers' suits are wired into one network. When you see black and orange on Karna, you are looking at the corporation's reach.

Who watches Tibet?

The Federation has an answer to corporate colonies: the Inspectorate Directorate, whose federal auditors review corporations in the colonies assigned to them. Their powers include lawful interception of private correspondence.

That is a serious tool, and it sits in a state of 150 billion people. Whether it is enough to keep a corporation like Tibet in check is a question worth keeping in mind as you play.

How does Tibet get its workforce?

Tibet smuggles "volunteer colonists" out of the poorest worlds and uses them as contraband labour. The Federation colour-codes its worlds, and the poor, restive ones are called red. The lore says inspection reports have recorded the practice for fifty years.

The labourers travel as cargo, in autonomous mass-freeze units. It echoes the game's own premise, in which you come back to Karna as cargo yourself.

Federal inspectors audit corporations in assigned colonies, and their reports are where the practice is recorded. It is documented, not secret.

Who founded Tibet, and who rules it?

Two families sit behind the corporation:

  • The Tallums. The lore names them as Tibet's co-founders. They are hereditary enemies of the Eidenharts.
  • The Eidenharts. A corporate aristocracy with inheritance law, a sprawling family tree and internal assassination as a normal political instrument. Other Eidenharts want Karna, but one holds it.

The one who holds it is Viviana Eidenhart, the Chair of the Board of Tibet Innovations and the actual sovereign of Karna. She is known as the Oxygen Queen of the Federation. Read Viviana Eidenhart, the Oxygen Queen of Karna for her profile, and the Eidenhart dynasty and the Tallums for the families behind her.

Why does Tibet matter to the story?

Tibet Innovations is the engine of Dixotomia's setting. Tibet HQ, the Mine, the Lab and the Refinery are its own, and the Tower belongs to the woman who chairs its board. Even the weather is tied to its business, because the rain is a melted form of the compound Tibet's fortune is built on.

It also gives the game's central question a sharper edge. Dixotomia asks whether you will remain human or embrace the dark side. On a planet where a corporation can ship workers as cargo, the word human is not a given.

What should a player take from Tibet?

Four things are worth keeping in mind when you play:

  • Tibet is the owner, not just the employer. It controls the ground, the industry and the people.
  • Its army is a private one. The security service answers to the company, not to a government.
  • Its workers can be cargo. The corporation ships people across space as freight.
  • Its leadership is a family business. The Eidenharts hold the chair, and the Tallums co-founded the company.

Those facts frame the game's central question. When a company decides who counts as a person, what it means to remain human gets harder to answer.

How can you learn more about Karna?

Start with Karna explained, which covers the planet itself: the weather, the moon, the spaceport and the date. The corporation is the owner, and the planet is what it owns.

Dixotomia is a single-player sci-fi horror shooter from Deep Matrix, set on Karna in the year 2583. The free demo is on Steam and itch.io, and the full game is on the Steam page and the Meta Quest store.
